President Erdoğan’s Phone Call with U.S. President Trump


Press statement on the phone call between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Donald J. Trump of the U.S. is as follows:

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone this evening with President Donald J. Trump of the U.S.

U.S. President Trump congratulated President Erdoğan on his victory in the April 16 referendum.

The latest developments in Syria were discussed and punishment of the regime by the U.S. for its chemical attack on the 4th of April was also talked about.

U.S. President Trump thanked President Erdoğan for his support to the U.S. on this matter.

The two leaders agreed that Bashar al-Assad should be held responsible for his actions.

Joint fight against DAESH was discussed and the need for cooperation against all groups which resort to terror to achieve their own objectives was underscored.
